A profound and complex nose of ripe, red berry fruits with some forest floor and floral notes in the background. This was a much cooler year so to get our fruit ripe we had to cut half of our crop off the vines. Now this wine has a terrific soft palate with nice fine tannins and balanced acidity. It will continue to develop like all of our pinots with good cellaring, it’s a fine wine that needs time.
2017 Pinot Noir review
96 Points, Gary Walsh, the Wine Front – Tip Top Tipple
“Bottle image is cork, but now screwcap. Epis not one of those wineries that keep bottle images up-to-date, I guess. More concerned with making good wine.
It has rare delicacy for Australian Pinot Noir, and a beautiful thing it is. It’s red cherry, floral perfume, cool mint, sweet clod earth and spice. Light-bodied, but flavoursome, and just so lacy and fine. Gentle brush of emery tannin, squished strawberry, a subtle stony/earthy thing, and bell-clear length and acidity. Effortless. Very fine indeed, as some English types might say.”
