About
Wine has always been a passion of mine since I was a young kid growing up in a small mining town in West Australia, called Boulder.
Both my parents were Italian so my sister Ena and I were introduced to wine at a very early age. We were always encouraged to have wine with our evening meals.
I suppose in my situation, as I got older, it has been a natural progression to learn more about wine and to drink better wines – of course ultimately making my own, something that I am doing now.
Stuart Anderson, the founder of the outstanding Vineyard “Balgownie” has been my Winemaker and mentor for the past 12 years with me as his assitant.
He has now retired and handed the reins over to me. I am grateful for his knowledge and professionalism.
Nothing will change from when Stuart was making the wine. He has set the standard and the benchmark. Why would I be so silly as to ignore 65 years of wine making experience including many vintages in Burgundy and Bordeaux – that is something you cannot buy and how fortunate we are here at Domaine Epis – to have had a person such as Stuart to guide us – experience is something you cannot buy.
It will be my goal to continue to make wine along the same methods and tradition that we have done over the last 12 years.
